We provide early intervention support for children with disabilities and/or special learning needs within mainstream childcare centres. This allows parents and carers to return to work and /or have some respite knowing their child’s needs are being catered for and they are being stimulated in an inclusive environment. An ongoing partnership with Macquarie University, where the early intervention procedures were developed, ensures that all programs are research-based and uphold the principals of best practice in early intervention.
Participating Centres
We are currently supporting 11 childcare centres across Sydney; Beecroft, Epping, Thornleigh, Top Ryde, North Ryde, Baulkham Hills/Norwest, Kings Langley, Kellyville, Seven Hills, St Claire, Werrington Downs and Penrith.
Child Enrolment
Children can be referred if they are between 0-5 years old with a diagnosed disability/developmental delay.
Children will then be enrolled for the STaR Program based on:
- the centre’s ability to cater for the child’s individual needs
- the level of support required
- the mix of disabilities within the group at that centre
Parents and families of children enrolled in the STaR Program need to:
- supply documentation required for funding purposes
- sign permission for application for Inclusion Support (ISP) funding
- sign the research agreement
- sign the parental agreement
- pay the childcare fees applicable for their child’s enrolment at the childcare centre
- pay a minimal fee on acceptance of an offer of placement in the Program
